About the world
Mamorumori is a hidden forest where the flora lives and the fauna is their caretaker. The animals have discovered the mysteries of a wide variety of plants, flowers and trees that grow within the Mamorumori forest. They live happily together: each with their own story. Seasons play a big role in Mamorumori forest. Winter, spring, summer and autumn bring different residents. Mamorumori forest will be run by the fauna, mainly the Plum Rabbits. They take care of the fauna throughout the many changes seasons bring.
About the name
Mamorumori comes from the Japanese words 'mamoru' [to protect, 守る] and 'mori' [forest, 森]. Its origins date from late 2019, after the founder went through a dark phase of a burnout and wanted to create something that made her truly happy. From childhood she has always been drawing, painting and designing. She has grown up learning a lot about nature due to her parents that are both biologists. It is her wish to share some of that knowledge in a fun and heartwarming way. Mamorumori is for both young and adult: just like nature is. Whether it is a maternity gift or a pal to plant up your room: there is no age limit to Mamorumori.
Mamorumori residents are completely handmade and from fabrics of local markets. Each individual resident is unique and cannot be duplicated whatsoever, just like the real world. They all have their own unique name, bio and reason to leave the Mamorumori forest.
About adopting residents
The Plum Rabbits of Mamorumori forest have played a magnificent role. It were the Plum Rabbits that started an adoption center to connect Mamorumori forest to the human world: The Plum Rabbit Adoption Center. The Plum Rabbits manage the process from A to Z. The founder assigned them to take care of the entire operation. When adopting a resident please take into account that they need care, love and want to stay with you forever.
Mamorumori is not just a brand; it is a story. The story can be told in many ways. There are many dreams that the founder has. She hopes to bring Mamorumori to many people in the world. This by spreading the word online, offline and through different media. Examples of this is creating stories aimed at children, spreading Mamorumori to (physical) stores, contacting more countries across the world and attending various events.
It is a rather cold afternoon somewhere in 2019. A then 25 year old Dutch resident rides her bicycle on her way to her daily activities, as the weather suddenly changes drastically and she falls. Her bicycle is broken and the wind seemed to have taken her to a place she has never been before. After wandering around for a bit she seems to have stumbled upon a mysterious forest. The plants have changed slightly, the flowers have brighten up suddenly and the trees seem to whisper to each other. What felt lonely and lost before now feels warm and inviting. What is happening? She takes out her small pocket notebook and an almost broken pencil and starts to draw and write. These discoveries must be shared!
Hello! My name is Zoë and I started working on Mamorumori in 2019 during the process of going through a burnout. What started as a simple hobby grew into a business in just a couple of months. Before Mamorumori I was not able to understand how to use needle and thread. My first project was a (literally) handmade "plom" plushie. This stubbornness brought me to getting my first sewing machine after just a couple of projects and creating my own patterns from the get-go. I am no master at sewing: I simply just try and go for it.
After two years of working on Mamorumori part-time I decided to go fulltime. Mamorumori is my passion and everything I could ever wish for doing. I hope to be able to keep continuing this for the rest of my life.
Fun fact: The founder Rabbit is based on... myself!
